The health insurance open enrollment 2023 officially starts November 1st. If you want or need your health insurance coverage to start January 1st, then you need to get your applications or renewals submitted by December 15th.
The government has already extended the open enrollment period until January 15th, however it pushes the start date of coverage to February 1st. If you wait, you might have a gap in coverage. So don’t wait!
What is Open Enrollment?
Open enrollment is the annual period where you can enroll or renew your health insurance coverage, if your policy follows the open enrollment guidelines. Not all health insurance plans are subject to the open enrollment period, so check with your health insurance agent if you have any questions.
Do I need to do anything for Open Enrollment 2023?
It depends on the type of plan you have or need. The open enrollment period of 2023 is primarily for the Affordable Care Act plans, also known as Obamacare or “marketplace plans”. If you have a policy outside of the marketplace, that does not follow the calendar year effective dates, then you probably don’t need to do anything during Open Enrollment 2023.
